My Story
I have been creating, crafting and making art for as long as I can remember. Making was all around me as a child–my mom ran a daycare when I was growing up and developed the curriculum for her program. My dad was a woodworker and made furniture, toys, and household items like lamps and bowls from wood. I got to see first hand what it was like to prepare and create crafts, projects, and art of all kinds.
Crafting became a form of therapy for me when several family traumas occured for me between the age of 5 and 12. I turned to it at every chance I had and fell in love with the soothing effects I found in using my hands to create something that didn't previously exist.
Thus with the inspiration of my parents' crafty hands along with a great deal of my own practice, I have learned and perfected many skills in crafting over my years.
In 2013 I launched an Etsy store where I discovered that my talent for crafting was truly appreciated and could even be profitable. I made around 70 sales working my online store as a side gig and enjoyed the profits till I took a break to pursue education and my relationship with my now husband.
In 2020 my husband and I spoke seriously about my dreams to one day open the business I had dreamed of for years–a business where I taught in-person workshops to adult participants who could make some of the beautiful craft projects that I had developed over the years. Since 2020, I have opened that business, The Makers Table, and instructed countless craft classes with all manners of fun people who understand the joy of making just like me!
Today, I have found my niche in creating things that have a whimsical or old world feel, and many of those things can be found in my online store as fully finished items or craft kits! You could even make something with me if you take one of my in-person classes. Check out my events calendar here!
